CROOKSTON, Minn.-
The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team announced the
addition of local product Cody Magsam (5-10 150, IF, Crookston, Minn.)
to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday. Magsam joins current UMC
player Brandon Kresl (Fr., 1B, Crookston, Minn./Management) as Crookston
High players who are slated to be on the 2015 roster for the Golden
Eagles.
“We are excited that Cody Magsam has decided to join the
Golden Eagle baseball program,” said head coach Chris Vito. “We believe
that Cody, like Brandon Kresl, will be a solid contributor to the
program over his four years playing UMC baseball.”
Magsam is the
first player to sign for the Golden Eagles during the Spring Signing
Period. The Golden Eagles are looking to replace a large senior class
which includes eight players. They are currently slated to have 12
players return to the team for the 2015 season.
Magsam attends
school at Fisher Public School in Fisher, Minn., but plays baseball for
Crookston H.S. and head coach Mitch Bakken, the former softball coach at
Minnesota Crookston. Also played basketball and football for the
Climax/Fisher team. He also plays for American Legion Post 20 out of
Crookston, which will be coached by current UMC players Jesse Jennings
and Trevor Buttermore this season. On the basketball court, Magsam won
the Mr. Offense Award. Magsam hit .240 last season in 21 starts with
seven runs scored and six RBI’s
Cody is the son of Lisa and Robert Magsam. He was born Feb. 28, 1996. Magsam is currently undecided on a major.
The
student-athletes listed today as having signed National Letters of
Intent or Offers of Admission to play at University of Minnesota
Crookston have been verified by the UMC Compliance Office once they sign
the National Letter of Intent and financial aid agreement or once the
student-athlete has accepted an Offer of Admission from UMC.
