Two More Records Fall at Drake Relays for NDSU Women

DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State University women’s track & field team continued its record-breaking ways, setting two more NDSU all-time bests during the afternoon session of the 105th Drake Relays on Friday, Apr. 25, at Drake Stadium.

Morgan Milbrath, Ashley Heinze, Antoinette Goodman and Ashley Tingelstad combined to run 3:34.64 in the prelims of the 4x400m relay, trimming two tenths of a second off the previous NDSU record of 3:34.84 set at the Mt. SAC Relays one week ago. The Bison advanced to tomorrow’s final in the event with the third-fastest time in the field.

NDSU now stands at 12th in the nation this season in the 4x400m relay. Saturday’s final will feature five teams ranked in the top 13 in the country and seven teams in the national top 25 in the event.

Bison sophomore Sierra Rosenau tacked another six inches onto her school record in the javelin, placing fifth overall at 158-0 (48.16m). It was the third time this season that Rosenau improved upon the NDSU all-time best mark she set last year as a freshman. The Carrington, N.D., native is ranked 36th in the NCAA this year.

Paige Stratioti clocked the second-fastest 800m of her career in 2:06.04, good for sixth place overall at Drake, and was held out of the 4x400m relay prelims. Stratioti will likely join the relay team for tomorrow’s final.

Heinze ran the second-fastest 400m hurdles time of her career, finishing in 1:00.22 for 12th place overall. Senior Deborah John placed 13th in the 100m hurdles in 13.77 seconds.

Bison redshirt freshman Katelyn Weimerskirch took 10th place in the discus with a mark of 149-2 (45.48m).

Competition at the Drake Relays will continue Friday evening and throughout the day on Saturday.
