MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The
Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has signed free agent guard Tan
White. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
White,
a 5-7 guard, averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists last
season with the Connecticut Sun. She appeared in 22 games during the
2013 campaign and ranked third on the team in steals (34) and fourth in
three-pointers made (15).
“We
are excited to welcome Tan to the Minnesota Lynx organization,” said
Lynx Executive Vice President Roger Griffith. “Tan is a veteran of this
league and will add depth and leadership to our backcourt.”
A nine-year veteran out of Mississippi State, White was originally drafted by the Indiana Fever in the first round (2nd
pick overall) of the 2005 WNBA Draft. She spent the first four years of
her career with the Fever, averaging a career-best 10.8 points per game
in 2007, and collecting career-highs with 101 rebounds and 80 assists
during the 2008 season. White spent the last five seasons with the Sun,
appearing in 151 games. In her career, White has averaged 8.5 points,
2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
The
2013 WNBA Champion Lynx will kick off their 16th season in the WNBA on
the road at Washington on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. The 2014 home opener
will be on Sunday, May 18 vs. Connecticut at 4 p.m., which will feature a
historic ring ceremony and championship banner raising for the 2013
