UND hockey players invited to USA Hockey National Festival

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –University of North Dakota women’s hockey head coach Brian Idalski and juniors Jocelyne Lamoureux and Monique Lamoureux-Kolls were announced today as invitees to take part in the 2011 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival, which will take place August 10-20 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

The Festival will serve as the selection camp for the 2011 U.S. Women’s National Team that will compete in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Eight Nations Tournament in Vierumäki, Finland, Aug. 24-31 and the 2011 U. S Women's Under-18 Select Team that will take on Canada in a three-game series Aug. 18-21 in Rockland, Ont.

“I am very excited to have an opportunity to be a part of USA Hockey’s August Festival,” Idalski said. “Anytime you can be around some of the top people in your profession it is an opportunity to learn and grow.”

The Lamoureux twins have helped the U.S. National Team to two gold medals in the IIHF World Championships in 2009 and 2011 and a silver medal in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

The Festival Participants will be divided into four teams (U18 Gray, Red, White and Blue) for daily practices and games. Idalski will be a coach on the red team and both Lamoureux and Lamoureux-Kolls will be forwards on the white team.

The U.S. Women’s Select Team will open the 2011 IIHF Women’s Eight Nations Tournament against Russia on Aug. 24.

The Fighting Sioux kick off their season on Sept. 23-24 hosting a two-game exhibition series against the Manitoba Bisons at the Ralph Engelstad Arena before opening the regular season on the road at NCAA Division I runner-up Boston University (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) and the defending national champion Wisconsin Badgers (Oct. 8-9)
