MSUM Dragon Volleyball Set to Open 2011 Season at UNO Tournament

MOORHEAD, Minn - This weekend the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons volleyball team opens the 2011 season in Omaha at the UNO tournament.

Set to take on four non-conference teams, on September 2nd the Dragons will face Northwest Missouri State at 12:30 p.m. and Nebraska Omaha at 6:3m p.m (livestats). On the 3rd the Dragons will play Arkansas Fort Smith at 10 a.m. and Southeastern Oklahoma State at 4 p.m.

Returning to lead the Dragons this year is junior outside hitter, Heidi Lensing, who lead the Dragons in the 2010 season with 364 kills. She also complied 293 digs, 33 blocks and 21 service aces.

Other returning letter winners are junior right side hitter Meredith Egeland, junior defensive specialist Katy Ness, junior setter Anna Olson, junior hitter Nicole Buysse, sophomore middle blocker Ashley Feldman and sophomore outside hitter Angie Waller.

With seven returning letter winners, the Dragons look to build off last seasons 16-12 overall record and sixth place finish in the NSIC conference. After the UNO tournament the Dragons will host the second annual Dragon Open sponsored the Fairfield in by Marriott on September 9-10.
