NDSU's Lopez Named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State setter Jennifer Lopez was named Summit League women's volleyball Offensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday, Aug. 29.

Lopez, a senior from Glyndon, Minn., averaged 10.17 assists per set and hit .765 with 13 kills and no errors in 17 attacks last week as the Bison went 3-1 at the Missouri Tiger Invitational.

NDSU outhit its opponents .342 to .181 on the weekend including .471 in the season-opener vs. Tulane and .439 against Idaho State.

Lopez also added 22 digs, five service aces and three blocks during the tournament. It was her third career Offensive Player of the Week award.

Western Illinois defensive specialist Bridget Murphy was named Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.88 digs per set and earning tournament MVP honors and leading the Fighting Leathernecks to a 3-1 record at SIU Edwardsville.

North Dakota State is scheduled to play Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Tulsa, Texas-Arlington and UC Davis this Friday, Sept. 2, and Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Classic.
