MSUM Dragon Football Fall Camp to Open on Aug. 12

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon football team will return to campus on Friday, Aug. 12, for the first season under Head Coach Steve Laqua.

Check-in will begin on Aug. 11, but the first meetings and walk through begin at 10 a.m. on Friday. The first practice is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. the same day.

The team will have walk-through in the mornings and practice in the afternoon for the first five days of camp and will have 2-a-day practices on Aug. 17 and 19.

MSU Moorhead will hold one scrimmage in preseason; on Aug. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Classes will begin on Aug. 22, moving practice to 3:30 p.m. each weekday afternoon there after.

Laqua was named the 17th Head Coach in program history in late January, after serving four years as the Fargo Shanley High School Head Coach. He takes the helm of the program in the 93rd year of existence, with a program record of 391-357-30.

The Dragons open up the 2011 season against Robert Morris (Ill.) on Sept. 4 in Arlington Heights, Ill. at noon. MSUM will open up at home in their first conference contest on Sept. 10 at noon against Winona State. The game will be aired live on Midco Sports Network.
