Former NFL Player and Valley City Coordinator Named a Member of MSUM Football Staff

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State University Moorhead Athletics Director Doug Peters and Head Football Coach Steve Laqua announced Monday that Rob Hunt has been named the Dragon’s Offensive Coordinator.

“We are excited to have Rob join our staff,” Laqua said. “His experience not only as coach in the area, but as a player, are going to be valuable assets in transforming our program.”

Hunt has served as the Offensive Coordinator at Valley City State for the past two seasons. At Valley City State, he was also the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, designing and implementing programs for the entire department.

“Creating a staff that is very talented and that can be locally recognized is a priority of mine,” Laqua said. “Rob is a great fit for our program and the direction we are going.”

Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Hunt played professional football in the Arena Football League, National Football League and NFL Europe. Hunt played collegiate football at North Dakota State where he was honored as the Rimington Award Winner, an honor given to the NCAA D-IAA’s top center.
“I am very honored to be joining Steve and Dragon Football as the Offensive Coordinator, as it is a great time to be joining the Athletics Department and University,” Hunt said. “Being able to take this program and turn it around will be a great challenge that I am looking forward towards.”

Hunt will join the Dragons staff beginning Monday, Feb. 7. He is the first addition to the Dragon football staff after Peters named Laqua the Head Coach on Jan. 28.
