GRAND FORKS, N.D. – With one loss in its last 10 games, the University of North
Dakota was ranked No. 2 in the USCHO.com poll and No. 3 in the USA Today/USA
Hockey Magazine poll, both of which were released on Monday.
UND received 12
first-place votes in the USCHO rankings and seven first-place nods in the USA
Today poll after receiving three first-place votes in both polls last week.
UND is coming off of a National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) series
split with No. 7 Miami and is 8-1-1 since losing its season-opener to Bemidji
State.
Michigan Tech
jumped from No. 5 to No. 1 in both of this week’s polls after improving to
10-0-0 with a sweep of BSU. Previous No. 1 Minnesota fell to fourth in both
polls.
UND (8-2-1,
3-1-0 NCHC) will travel to St. Cloud State next weekend to face the Huskies,
who were ranked 16th by USCHO and 15th by USA Today.

NCAA scoring leader Caggiula named NCHC Player of the Week
Junior forward had five points in NCHC split with Miami
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North
Dakota junior forward Drake Caggiula, who led all National Collegiate
Hockey Conference (NCHC) players in scoring last weekend, has been
named the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week.
Caggiula
collected three goals and five points – tops among NCHC skaters in both
categories – in North Dakota’s conference split with seventh-ranked
Miami last weekend in Grand Forks. The Whitby, Ontario, native had two
goals and an assist in Saturday’s 4-1 win over the RedHawks, including
the game-winning goal. In Friday’s 3-2 loss, Caggiula figured in on
both UND goals with a short-handed goal and an assist. He was also a
plus-3 on the weekend.
Caggiula’s
5-point series moved him into a tie for the national scoring lead with
16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) and extended his point streak to a
career-best five games. He has reached the scoresheet in all five of
UND’s five November games, accounting for five goals and four assists
during the month.
