FARGO,
N.D. - North Dakota State's first loss in more than two years dropped
the unanimously No. 1-ranked Bison to fourth in the Sports Network FCS
Top 25 and the FCS coaches poll released Monday, Nov. 10. The Bison
retained 19 of the 157 first-place votes in the Sports Network poll, but
lost all 26 first-place votes in the coaches poll.
New Hampshire (8-1) had 70 first-place votes and took over the top spot in the Sports Network poll followed by Coastal Carolina (10-0) with 55 first-place votes and Jacksonville State (8-1) with 13 votes. Coastal Carolina was No. 1 in the coaches poll with 20 votes, New Hampshire was second with four first-place votes, and Jacksonville State was third with two votes.
North Dakota State slipped to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference with a 23-3 loss at Northern Iowa, which snapped NDSU's 33-game winning streak. NDSU's last loss to Indiana State on October 13, 2012, also dropped the Bison from first to fourth in both FCS polls.
NDSU previously held the No. 1 spot in the FCS coaches poll for 30 straight weeks and the Sports Network poll for 30 of 31 weeks with a preseason No. 2 ranking this year. Northern Iowa (6-4, 4-2 MVFC) climbed from 19th and 20th in the two polls up to 11th and 12th with its win over the Bison.
North Dakota State travels to play Missouri State (4-6, 1-5 MVFC) at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Plaster Field in Springfield, Mo.
