North
Dakota State’s Emily Miron has earned Summit League Volleyball
Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance in Bison
victories on Oct. 28 and Nov. 2.
The
sophomore middle blocker from Wadena, Minn., becomes NDSU’s first
Summit League Player of the Week in volleyball since Megan Lambertson
and Andrea Henning swept the offensive and defensive awards on Nov. 12,
2012.
Miron
earned her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor after
helping the Bison to a 2-0 week in league play with wins over league
leaders Denver and South Dakota. In the four-set victory over Denver on
Oct. 28, she posted six blocks along with 11 kills and only one attack
error in 31 attempts for a .323 clip. Miron topped that performance at
the net with eight blocks, four solo and four block assists, in the 3-1
win over South Dakota on Nov. 2.
For
the week, Miron recorded 14 blocks, eight block assists and six solo,
averaging 1.75 blocks per set. She also added 14 kills with a .244
hitting percentage.
Miron
is averaging 1.50 blocks per set during NDSU’s current five-match win
streak, leading a resurgence that has the Bison out-blocking their
opponents 58-28 over that stretch.
