CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

AUSTIN, Texas - North Dakota State University defensive end Greg Menard was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team Thursday, Dec. 1, by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Menard, a junior from Lakeville, Minn., has a 3.82 cumulative grade-point average in civil engineering.  It is his second straight CoSIDA Academic All-America® award.  He is a two-time Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic Team honoree.

To qualify for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, nominees must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, sophomore athletic and academic standing, and have completed at least one year at their current institution.

Menard was a third-team STATS FCS All-American last year and nominated for the 2016 Buck Buchanan Award, presented annually to the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.  He finished the regular season third in the MVFC with 13.0 tackles for loss and fourth with 9.5 sacks.

This is the seventh CoSIDA Academic All-America® award for the NDSU football program in the past three seasons under head coach Chris Klieman.

Top-seeded North Dakota State (10-1) hosts a second-round FCS playoff game against San Diego (10-1) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
