NDSU Women’s Golf Selected Fourth in Summit League Preseason Poll


ELMHURST, Ill. – The North Dakota State University women's golf team was picked to finish fourth in The Summit League according to a preseason poll of the league's head coaches announced by the league office on Friday, Jan. 22.

Denver was tabbed as the team to beat in the poll for the third consecutive season, tallying eight of the nine first-place votes and 64 points, while South Dakota State was voted second with one first-place vote and 55 points.

Oral Roberts was third with 51 points, and the Bison were fourth with 43 points.

South Dakota totaled 37 points for fifth, while IUPUI was sixth with 28 points.

Western Illinois, Omaha and Fort Wayne rounded out the poll.

Sophomore Natalie Roth, the reigning Summit League Newcomer of the Year, leads the Bison after the fall season with a 75.5 stroke average.

Roth is the only Summit League golfer to capture an individual title during the fall campaign. The Lake Park, Minn., native took first-place at the NDSU Fall Kickoff.

NDSU finished fourth at The Summit League Women's Golf Championship last season in Seaside, Calif., with a three-round team score of 956.

North Dakota State will compete in four tournaments during the spring before The Summit League championship April 18-20 at ArborLinks Golf Club in Nebraska City, Neb. The Bison open the spring slate Feb. 22-24 at the Grand Canyon Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz.
