North Star Conference Players of the Week

The North Star Football Conference has announced the Player of the Week
awards for this past week’s games.

East Division award winners are: Jeff Flicklinger (Pillager) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, Brad Kusper (Blackduck) was named the
Defensive Player of the Week and Kyler LaVine (Bagley) was chosen as the
Special Teams Player of the Week.

West Division honorees include: Avery Fairbanks (Mahnomen) as the
Offensive Player of the Week, Tyler Ziegler (Frazee) selected as the
Defensive Player of the Week and Mason Swegarden (Lake Park-Audubon) was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Jeff Flicklinger carried the ball 6 times for 116 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also intercepted a pass for a touchdown as Pillager defeated Lake of the
Woods.

Brad Kusper once again led his team’s defensive efforts with 18 tackles and one blocked kick in a loss against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley / Laporte.

Kyler LaVine had an 80 yard return for a touchdown as the Flyers defeated Pine River-Backus.

Other outstanding efforts in the East Division were turned in by: Tim
Conger (Bagley), Cody Beach (Pillager), and Chance Halverson (Bagley).

In the West Division, Avery Fairbanks had 14 carries for 110 yards including a 56 yard run against a very tough Warren-Alvarado-Oslo defense.
Mahnomen remained undefeated with their win.

Tyler Ziegler had 6 solo tackles, 4 assists and a sack in the Hornets win over Red Lake County. Tyler has an incredible work ethic and was instrumental in his team’s success.

Mason Swegarden went 6 for 6 on extra points on Friday night. Previously, he had only made 2 of 8 attempts.

Additional outstanding performances for the West Division from Friday
night include: Cody Piper (Frazee), Jacob Hedstrom (Mahnomen), Matt
Pepper (Lake Park-Audubon), Bruce Lemon (Frazee), and Jake Pavek
(Mahnomen).
