Cody Aasness to play men’s basketball at Mayville State University

The Mayville State University men's basketball program is pleased to announce that Cody Aasness has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Mayville State University next season.

Aasness, a 6-0 guard from Dalton, Minnesota, played two seasons at MSCTC-Fergus Falls following an outstanding high school career at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

In his two seasons at MSCTC-Fergus Falls, Aasness helped lead the team to two state tournament berths and two 20-win seasons. As a freshman Aasness led the team with 3.2 assists per game as the Spartans finished with a 20-10 overall record. During his sophomore season Aasness was a team captain while the Spartans finished with a 20-8 record.

"I am really looking forward to having Cody in our program," Mayville State men's basketball coach Justin Johnson said. "He has a presence on the floor that we really need on our team and brings a tenacity to the game that the people of Mayville will enjoy a great deal."

During his high school career, Aasness was an All-Conference, All-Section, and All-State selection for Hillcrest Lutheran Academy. As a senior, Aasness averaged 21.7 points per game while leading his team t o the section championship.

"I am very excited to sign with Mayville State," Aasness said. "I look forward to playing for Coach Johnson and helping the Comets get back to their strong winning tradition."
