NDSU’s Wentz Named Summit League Baseball Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State first baseman Zach Wentz was named Summit League baseball Player of the Week by the league office Monday, March 7.

Wentz, a junior from Bismarck, N.D., hit. 462 with three doubles and four RBIs in a three-game series at Murray State, including a season-high four hits in Friday's series opener.

Wentz has a team-best seven-game hitting streak and raised his batting average from .222 to .300 over the weekend.

South Dakota State's Blake Treinen was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week after pitching eight shutout innings with 11 strikeouts and no walks in a 2-0 win at Tennessee-Martin.

North Dakota State (0-10) is scheduled to play seven games in eight days in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational beginning Friday, March 11, against Bowling Green at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Fla.
