BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn., (Nov. 21, 2016) – The Minnesota
State High School League (MSHSL) announced today the 14 schools that have
advanced to the championships of the Prep Bowl Playoff. The games will be
played Nov. 25-26 at U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
“The Minnesota State High School League would like to
congratulate all the players and coaches competing in this year’s tournament,”
said Kevin Merkle, the MSHSL Associate Director that oversees football. “These
teams have practiced and played hard all season long and we are honored to be
able to host these outstanding student athletes and their fans at this exciting
new venue.”
Tickets for championship games are available for $14 for
adults and $9 for students. A two-day Prep Bowl Pass is available for $20. For

In honor of a new Prep Bowl era at U.S. Bank Stadium, the
League has special events planned. They include honoring Prep Bowl record
holders during halftime of the Class AAAAAA championship game on Nov. 25, and
recognizing state championship coaches at the half of the Class AAAAA
championship game on Nov. 26.

This is the inaugural season of the Prep Bowl era at U.S.
Bank Stadium, which is the new home of the Minnesota Vikings of the National
Football League.
From 1982-2013, the Prep Bowl was played at the Hubert H.
Humphrey Metrodome. During construction of U.S. Bank Stadium, the 2014 and 2015
Prep Bowl championship games were played at TCF Bank Stadium on the University
of Minnesota campus. The MSHSL state football tournament format began in 1972.
