NDSU Men’s Basketball Picked 3rd in Summit League Poll; Miller and Werner Honored

ELMHURST, Ill. – The North Dakota State men’s basketball team has been picked to finish third in The Summit League this season, according to the annual preseason poll of league head coaches, sports information directors and media.

NDSU junior guard Paul Miller was voted to the preseason All-Summit League first team, while senior forward Dexter Werner claimed a spot on the second team.

Fort Wayne topped the preseason poll with 491 points and 18 first-place votes. South Dakota State came in second with 424 points and nine first-place votes, and the Bison were third with 422 points and four first-place votes.

Miller led NDSU in scoring last season with 15.3 points per game. He shot 41 percent from three-point range and scored in double figures in all but four games he played.

Werner played in all 33 games and led the Bison in rebounding last year with 6.7 boards per game. He registered four double-doubles and shot 50 percent from the floor for the season.

With 93 victories over the past four seasons, NDSU carries the most successful stretch in program history into the new Scheels Center and Sanford Health Athletic Complex on campus.

NDSU will host Concordia Moorhead in an exhibition game on Nov. 2. The regular season opens with the Bison hosting Arkansas State on Friday, Nov. 11.
