ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State’s Matti Mortimore and Erin Teschuk were
named The Summit League’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
for their performances on April 3 at the Stanford Invitational.

Matti Mortimore gathers his first career Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week award after his performance at the Stanford Invitational. Mortimore finished third among collegiate competitors with a javelin toss of 230-10 (70.37m). That distance places him second in NDSU history as well as 14th nationally this season. The only collegiate athletes to finish ahead of the sophomore at the meet are ranked No. 4 and No. 5 in the nation.
Mortimore
is the second Bison javelin thrower to earn the league’s weekly award
in the first three weeks of the outdoor season, joining junior Tyler
Parker. NDSU has six men on this year’s team that have topped 200 feet
in the javelin during their careers.
Women’s Athlete of the Week

Erin Teschuk earns her second consecutive Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week award after her performance at the Stanford Invitational. Teschuk broke the NDSU school record in the 1500-meter run with a winning time of 4:17.10. The second-, third- and fourth-place finishers behind her in the event were all professionals, including two former NCAA champions and a U.S. Olympian. Teschuk is now ranked third nationally in the event, as well as ninth in the NCAA in the 800m.
This
is Teschuk’s seventh Summit League Athlete of the Week award this
season, including three during the indoor track & field season and
two during cross country.
