MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – After trading its 11th, 23rd and 28th overall picks to New York Liberty in exchange for guard Anna Cruz and the Liberty’s 16th and 35th picks, the Minnesota Lynx wrapped up the evening by taking California’s forward Reshanda Gray with the 16th pick and Minnesota’s forward Shae Kelley with the 35th pick.
Gray,
a 6-3 forward out of California, was named Pac 12 Player of the Year
this season as well as being selected as a Wade Trophy and Wooden Award
finalist after finishing the year averaging 17.4 points and 7.1 rebounds
per game. Gray was fourth in the Pac-12 in scoring and 10th in rebounding. She finished her career as Cal’s all-time field goal percentage leader and ranked fifth in points and rebounds.
Kelley,
a 6-1 forward from the Minnesota Gophers, was named to the All-Big Ten
First Team in 2015. She ranked sixth in the Big Ten in scoring,
offensive rebounds and double-doubles, seventh in rebounds and defensive
rebounds and 15th in steals. Prior to Minnesota, Kelley was named the
2014 All-Conference USA First Team as a member of Old Dominion women’s
basketball team. She surpassed 1,000 career points in just her second
year at Old Dominion, becoming just the fifth Lady Monarch to do so.
