GRAND FORKS, N.D. – When Providence College visits North Dakota for a
non-conference series this weekend, it will be the first matchup at Ralph
Engelstad Arena in three years to feature a pair of top-five teams.
In the latest
national polls released this afternoon, North Dakota remained ranked No. 3
while Providence stayed at No. 5 in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey
Magazine polls. Top-ranked Minnesota stayed atop both polls while defending
national champion Union ranked No. 2.
The last time
UND and an opponent faced each other in Grand Forks with both ranked as
top-five schools was on Oct. 8, 2011, when third-ranked UND was defeated by
fifth-ranked Boston College in the Ice Breaker Tournament.
UND (3-1-0,
2-0-0 NCHC) will meet Providence (2-0-0, 0-0-0 HEA) on Friday at 7:37 p.m.
Central and Saturday at 7:07 p.m. Central.
