UMC's Cleary Named NSIC North Player of the Week

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston men’s basketball player Harrison Cleary (Fr., G, 6-1, Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek H.S.) was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North Division Player of the Week after averaging 27.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last weekend in games against Southwest Baptist University and Lincoln University of Missouri.

Cleary is the first UMC men’s basketball player to earn the honor since Akeem Cubie earned the accolade in 2009.

Cleary opened his collegiate career by scoring 34 points on 15-of-22 from the field in a 73-64 win on the road at Southwest Baptist University. He added seven rebounds on the game. For the weekend, he shot 61.8 percent from the field (21-of-34) and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc (6-of-11). He also shot 87.5 percent from the charity stripe (7-of-8). Cleary tallied 21 points on Saturday against Lincoln University of Missouri. He was 6-of-12 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Cleary also averaged 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game last weekend. He helped lead UMC to their first season-opening win since 2012.

Jon Fuqua of Minnesota State University-Mankato earned NSIC South Division Player of the Week.

Minnesota Crookston plays two games at Lysaker Gymnasium this week as they take on University of Wisconsin-Stout Tues., Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and Waldorf College Thurs., Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.
