NDSU Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award for 15th Time

The North Dakota State University volleyball team has been honored with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 season, the AVCA announced Wednesday, July 29.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Bison received the award for the third consecutive year and for the 15th time overall.

NCAA Division I recorded its highest-ever total number of recipients, honoring 146 programs.

NDSU returns 14 players from last season’s team that won seven of the final nine regular-season matches and advanced to the semifinals of the Summit League Tournament. The Bison open the season at the Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo., on Aug. 28-29, taking on host Missouri, North Texas and Winthrop.
