MN Lynx Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus Voted WNBA All-Star Starters


MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The WNBA tonight announced Lynx forward Maya Moore and guard Seimone Augustus were voted in by fans to the starting lineup for the 2015 Western Conference All-Star team. Moore ranked third in 2015 WNBA All-Star Balloting presented by Boost Mobile with 13,706 votes. This year’s game will mark the fourth career All-Star start for Moore, and the sixth time Augustus has been selected as an All-Star, her second as a starter. 

In her fifth year out of the University of Connecticut, Moore is averaging 18.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. She ranks third in the WNBA in scoring and fourth in steals with 2.08 steals per game, and has posted six games with 20+ points as well as three double-doubles. Moore was named Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday, having registered a season-high 29 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the July 10 game at Chicago.

In her 10th year of WNBA play, Augustus is averaging 14.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. She currently ranks ninth in the league in scoring and is tied for first in free-throw accuracy with 100.0 percent (19-for-19). Augustus tallied a season-high 24 points in the June 25 comeback win at Seattle, her second 20+ effort this season.

Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2015, featuring the Eastern Conference All-Stars against the Western Conference All-Stars at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., will be nationally televised by ABC on Saturday, July 25, at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Reserves will be announced on Tuesday, July 21, during ESPN2’s game telecast of the Phoenix Mercury and Los Angeles Sparks (tip-off at 11 p.m. ET).  In the case of players who are unable to play due to injury – such as Diggins, who has sustained a season-ending injury – replacement players will be named by WNBA President Laurel J. Richie.  Any changes to the starting lineup necessitated by injury will subsequently be made by the head coach of the respective All-Star team.
