NDSU Men’s Basketball Adds Spencer Eliason to 2014 Recruiting Class



FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men’s basketball program has signed 6-foot-9 forward Spencer Eliason from Chadron, Neb., to a National Letter of Intent, head coach David Richman announced Wednesday, May 7.

Eliason joins Paul Miller of Kettle Moraine (Wis.) High School and Evan Wesenberg and Jake Showalter, both of Germantown (Wis.) High School, in the now four-man signing class expected to join the Bison in the fall of 2014.

A two-year captain and three-year letterwinner for Chadron High School, Eliason averaged 17.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game during his senior season in 2013-14 after averaging 16.3 points and 12.1 rebounds as a junior. He was a two-time All-Western Conference, two-time all-district and two-time all-state honorable mention selection during his career, in addition to being an academic all-state honoree. Eliason played for M33M on the AAU circuit.

Eliason was also an all-conference and all-district receiver in football for Chadron HS. His older brother, Elliott, is a junior center for the University of Minnesota basketball team.

NDSU was ranked third in the final College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll this season, marking the highest ranking in program and Summit League history. The Bison finished the 2013-14 season with a record of 26-7, sweeping the Summit League’s regular season and tournament titles and posting the first NCAA Tournament win in school history with an 80-75 overtime victory over No. 20/21 Oklahoma in the second round.
