Summit League Men’s Basketball Players of the Week


ELMHURST, Ill.Denver’s Brett Olson and North Dakota State’s Marshall Bjorklund were named as The Summit League’s Men’s Basketball Players of the Week following their performances Dec. 9-15.

Olson received his first Summit League honor after averaging 23.5 points per game in a pair of victories. He scored a career-high 24 points, dished out five assists and made two steals in Denver’s road win at Colorado State, the first victory for the Pioneers in Fort Collins since 1979. Against Wyoming, Olson scored 23 points, including converting the game-winning three-point play with three seconds remaining. Olson recorded the first consecutive 20-point games of his career. For the week, he shot 55.2 percent and was a perfect 13-of-13 at the free throw line.

Marshall Bjorklund, North Dakota State

Bjorklund garnered his second career award after a leading North Dakota State to a historical victory at Notre Dame. Against the Irish, Bjorklund scored a game-high 26 points as the Bison recorded The Summit League’s second road victory all-time against an ACC opponent. In the win, Bjorklund shot 78.6 percent (11-of-14) and added five rebounds and four assists. In NDSU’s road contest at No. 2 Ohio State, Bjorklund scored 12 points with four rebounds in 27 minutes. For the week, he averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
