North Star Football Conference Players of the Week

(October 8, 2013) - The North Star Football Conference has announced the Players of the Week for week six action..  Pine River-Backus leads the East Division with a 5-1 overall record and Mahnomen leads the West Division with a perfect 6-0 overall mark.

East Division

Offensive Player of the Week – Dezmond Berndt (Pillager) carried the ball 22 times for 197 yards and scored two touchdowns in their win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.

Offensive Player of the Week – Cooper Jedlicka (Blackduck) had 197 yards rushing on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns in a win over Cass Lake – Bena.

Defensive Player of the Week – Levi Dexter (Blackduck) contributed 10 tackles (2 solos and 8 assists) in a win over Cass Lake-Bena.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Cherokee DeLeon (Pillager) kicked five of five on extra points and also kicked off and punted in a win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.

West Division

Offensive Player of the Week – Hesston Bachman (Frazee) rushed for 291 yards and two touchdowns in a win over previously unbeaten Pine River-Backus.

Defensive Player of the Week – Tristan Knott (Red Lake County) had  five tackles and two interceptions for Red Lake County in their win over Lake Park-Audubon.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Kody Lefebvre (Mahnomen) returned 5 punts for 78 yards in a win over Fosston.

Other outstanding performances for the week were turned in by: Kody Lefebvre (Mahnomen – offense), Sean Harris (Red Lake County – offense), and Austin Torma (Frazee – defense).
