FARGO,
N.D. – The North Dakota State University track & field programs
have announced their competition schedule for the upcoming 2016 season.
The
indoor slate will feature three home meets this year, including the
season-opening Dakota Classic on Dec. 4-5 in the Shelly Ellig Indoor
Track & Field Facility. NDSU will also be home for the Bison Classic
on Jan. 16 and the Thundering Herd Classic on Feb. 13.
New
to the indoor schedule this season is the Air Force Team Challenge at
the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado on Feb. 5. The Bison
will also travel to the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational for the first
time since 2012.
Fort
Wayne will host the 2016 Summit League Indoor Track & Field
Championships on Feb. 26-27. The NCAA Indoor Championships will take
place in Birmingham, Ala., on Mar. 11-12.
The
Bison women have won all eight Summit League indoor team titles since
joining the league in 2008, and the NDSU men have won four out of eight
championships.
The outdoor season opens at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., for the third straight year on Mar. 18-19.
NDSU
will continue its tradition of competing in the prestigious Mt. SAC
Relays on Apr. 14-16 and Drake Relays on Apr. 28-30. The Bison have two
home meets scheduled during the outdoor season – the Lyle Hokanson
Classic on Apr. 22-23 and the NDSU Tune-Up Meet on May 6.
The 2016 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., on May 12-14.
The
NCAA West Preliminary Rounds are at the University of Kansas in
Lawrence, Kan., on May 26-28, with the NCAA Outdoor Championships held
in Eugene, Ore., for the fourth straight season on June 8-11.
NDSU has won eight straight women’s outdoor titles and six consecutive men’s outdoor championships in The Summit League.
