FARGO,
N.D. – The North Dakota State men’s basketball program will play
non-conference games at Illinois and Iowa State to highlight the 2015-16
season schedule.
“We
feel our schedule for this upcoming season offers a little bit of
everything,” said NDSU head coach David Richman. “We have the games
against Iowa State and Illinois in two of the nation’s premier
basketball conferences, and we also have a very good balance of games
versus quality mid-major programs.”
“Our
schedule should offer some good opportunities to grow and get better as
we build into the conference season, and I think it will be exciting
for our fans and players,” added Richman.
NDSU
will open the season at defending Big West Conference regular season
champion UC Davis on Nov. 13, followed by a trip to Springfield, Ill.,
to take on Illinois out of the Big Ten Conference on Nov. 15.
The
Bison will travel to Iowa State on Dec. 1 for a showdown with the
Cyclones, who will likely be ranked among the nation’s top 5 in
preseason polls.
The
home opener at Scheels Arena is scheduled for Nov. 18 against Valley
City State. Other home games on the non-conference schedule include
Montana (Nov. 25), North Carolina A&T (Nov. 28), Montana State (Dec.
16) and Northland College (Dec. 30).
NDSU also has road non-conference games at Arkansas State (Dec. 4), Southern Miss (Dec. 6) and North Dakota (Dec. 11).
The
Bison will play three games at the Global Sports Hoops Showcase in
Logan, Utah, on Dec. 21-23, taking on Idaho State, Texas-Rio Grande
Valley and host Utah State.
Summit League play begins on Jan. 3 in Fargo for the Bison, who will play four of their first five league games at home.
