Minneapolis/St. Paul –
The Minnesota Timberwolves will participate in the 2014 NBA Draft
Lottery, held on Tuesday, May 20 at the Disney/ABC Times Square Studios
in New York City. By way of their 40-42 regular season record, the
Wolves are currently slotted into the No. 13 selection, with a 2.18%
chance of attaining a top-three pick. The Draft Lottery will be
televised on ESPN beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
Wolves
general manager Milt Newton will represent the team on stage at the
Draft Lottery. Should the ping pong balls fall Minnesota’s way landing
it a top-three selection, Newton will be made available to the Twin
Cities media following the Draft Lottery via a conference call. Should
the Wolves win the Draft Lottery, Newton will be available to the media
via a national conference call at approximately 8 p.m. CT. Details will
be sent out to the media on Tuesday afternoon.
The
Wolves will also have three second-round picks, the 40th (New Orleans'
selection - acquired 9/9/2009 via the Antonio Daniels/Bobby Brown and
Darius Songalia trade), 44th (own) and 53rd (Golden State's selection -
acquired 6/27/2013 via the Malcolm Lee and Andre Roberson trade) overall
draft choices.
The
2014 NBA Draft will take place on Thursday, June 26 at the Barclays
Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., beginning at 6 p.m. CT and broadcast on ESPN.
