12 UMC Student-Athletes Earn NSIC Spring All-Academic Honors
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston had 12 student-athletes named to the
Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Spring All-Academic teams as
announced by the conference office Wednesday.
The UMC baseball team had two student-athletes
honored as Jesse Jennings (So., IF/OF, Robbinsdale, Minn.) and Jordan Prill (Sr., 1B/OF/P, Melrose, Minn.) received the honor. Four softball
players received recognition as Shelby Hollinger (So., IF/OF, Neudorf,
Saskatchewan), Stacey Marcum (Sr., P, Merrill, Wis.), Josee Plante
(So., 3B/C, Manitou, Manitoba) and Brooke Vatthauer (So., P/1B,
Crookston, Minn.) were honored. UMC men’s golfers Jesse Roscoe (So., Big Stone City, S.D.) and
Zach Cymbaluk (So., Crookston, Minn.) also received recognition as did
Golden Eagle women’s golfers Kelly Gustafson (Jr., Hermantown, Minn.), Kari
Bodine (Sr., Babbitt, Minn.) and Mary Mikutowski (So., Stillwater,
Minn.) and women’s tennis netter Casey Paris (Jr., Fairmont, Minn.).
To be
eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity
traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
Furthermore, the athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic
standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and
ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at
least one full academic year at that institution.
