The Bison women have seven performances that rank among the
top eight in the Midwest region for the 2013 outdoor
season.
NDSU is the highest ranked team from The Summit League in
the weekly regional ranking system. The USTFCCCA uses performances on the
national descending order lists to calculate where teams stack up against the
competition regionally.
The Midwest Region includes all Division I schools in the
states of Illinois , Iowa ,
Minnesota , Nebraska ,
Missouri , Kansas ,
Oklahoma , South Dakota and North
Dakota .
Junior hurdler Deborah John owns the third-fastest 100m
hurdles time in the Midwest at 13.53 seconds, and Ashley Tingelstad (400m) and Leslie
Brost (pole vault) are both sixth in the region.
Junior Emily Lesser is seventh in the Midwest
in the hammer throw, and Antoinette Goodman ranks eighth in the 200m dash.
Both NDSU relays are among the best in the region, with the
4x100m team of John , Brittany
Page, Tingelstad and Goodman ranked sixth, and the 4x400m team of Tingelstad,
Paige Stratioti, Page and Melissa Kitching standing at seventh on the Midwest
performance list.
Qualifiers to the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds held in Austin ,
Texas , on May 23-25 will be announced on
Thursday. The Bison are expected to send at least 10 women to the meet.
