NDSU Picked 2nd in Preseason FCS Coaches Poll



SPARTANBURG, S.C. - North Dakota State was picked second in the preseason FCS Coaches Poll announced Tuesday, Aug. 8.  The Bison received two first-place votes behind defending national champion James Madison.

JMU, which had 20 of the 26 first-place votes, defeated NDSU in the national semifinals last year before beating Youngstown State in the championship.  The Missouri Valley Football Conference has an FCS-best five teams in the preseason coaches poll including South Dakota State (6), Youngstown State (8), Illinois State (18) and Northern Iowa (20).

The FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and is administered by the Southern Conference.
