UMC's Nordick Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

CROOKSTON, Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston women’s basketball player Katrina Nordick (Sr., F, Perham, Minn./Applied Studies) was selected to the Academic All-District Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for District 7. Nordick was one of five student-athletes who earned placement on the All-District 7 team. Nordick is the only honoree from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) for the 2015-16 season.

Nordick has been a four-year starter on the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team. She maintains a 3.81 average in applied studies at Minnesota Crookston. Nordick earned NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction honors earlier this season. She was honored as the NSIC North Preseason Player of the Year and has had a phenomenal senior season for the Golden Eagles, averaging 16.8 points per game, which is third in the NSIC for the 2015-16 season. She was an All-NSIC First Team pick during the 2014-15 season and has twice been named NSIC North Player of the Week during the 2015-16 season. Nordick is ranked third all-time in scoring at UMC with 1,448 points and needs just 21 rebounds to move past Laurie Tyson for the career rebound record. In the classroom, Nordick has also been an NSIC All-Academic pick during each of the last three seasons at UMC, while earning UMC All-Academic honors, as well.

Nordick is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America, which will be announced Wed., March 2. She was selected to the Academic All-District 7 Team along with Kate Bellamy of Northeastern State University, Racquel Dudzevich of Oklahoma Baptist University, Kassidy Gengenbacher of Lindenwood University and Shelby Winkelmann of University of Central Missouri.

The 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
