NDSU FB Players Named Players of the Week



NDSU's Frazier, DeLuca Valley Football Players of the Week

ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State running back King Frazier was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week and linebacker Nick DeLuca was named Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Sunday, Nov. 1, after a NDSU's 35-29 win at Southern Illinois.

Frazier, a junior from Greenwood, Mo., rushed 16 times for a career-high 177 yards and one touchdown.  He scored on a 50-yard sprint on the first play of the fourth quarter and added a 51-yard run to set up NDSU's final score.  Frazier also had a 41-yard run in the game and averaged 11.1 yards per carry as the Bison rushed for a season-high 397 yards.

DeLuca, a junior from Omaha, Neb., made a career-high 20 tackles including four solo stops.  He was in on one tackle for loss and had one pass breakup as NDSU's defense limited the league's top-rated offense to a season-low 398 yards of total offense and 121 rushing yards.

North Dakota State (6-2, 4-1 MVFC) hosts Western Illinois in the annual Harvest Bowl game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.  The Fighting Leathernecks are 4-4 and 3-2 in the MVFC after a 23-21 home loss to Youngstown State.

NDSU’s Kelly Named Valley Football Offensive Lineman of the Week

ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State right guard Jeremy Kelly was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week by the conference office Monday, Nov. 2, after his performance in NDSU's 35-29 road win over Southern Illinois.

Kelly, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound senior from Somerset, Wis., had nine knockdowns and graded out with a team-best 88 percent technique.  He had six pancakes and three decleaters and did not allow a quarterback hurry or sack.

The Bison rolled up a season-high 397 rushing yards and outgained the top offense in the league by a 535-398 margin.  Running back King Frazier had a career-high 177 yards while quarterback Easton Stick ran for 130 yards and passed for 138 and two touchdowns as NDSU averaged 8.1 yards per play.

NDSU captured three of the league's five player of the week awards.  Frazier was named Offensive Player of the Week and linebacker Nick DeLuca was named Defensive Player of the Week after making a career-high 20 tackles.
