UMC Softball Adds McIntosh as Assistant Coach

CROOKSTON, Minn. –  The University of Minnesota Crookston softball program announced the addition of Raylynn McIntosh as assistant softball coach for the Golden Eagles. McIntosh was a collegiate softball player at Northwest Oklahoma State University and has 10 years of experience coaching youth softball and baseball.

“Raylynn’s eagerness to jump in and help this program will be a huge asset to the team,” said UMC head coach Don Stopa. “Although she is new to college coaching, she has some great coaching experience that will help take this program to the next level.”

McIntosh played three seasons for Northwest Oklahoma State University, a NCAA Division II school in Alva, Okla. McIntosh was a utility player for the Rangers from 2004-06. After an injury as a junior, McIntosh stayed with the team as a manager and was in charge of equipment before and after practices and games and also helped to prepare the field for games and helped to show around new recruits.

Following her time at NWOSU, McIntosh helped coach fast pitch softball for various Native American tournaments across Oklahoma. She also volunteered as a youth baseball coach in Henryetta, Okla., helping lead the team to district and regional tournaments.

McIntosh, a Dewar, Okla. native, earned two Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees from Northwest Oklahoma State, earning one in health and physical education in 2007 and a second one in psychology in 2009. She is currently working toward a master’s degree in sports psychology from the University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colo.
