NDSU’s Crockett, Emanuel Named MVFC Players of the Week



ST. LOUIS, Mo. - North Dakota State's John Crockett was named Offensive Player of the Week and Kyle Emanuel was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Missouri Valley Football Conference office Sunday, Aug. 31.

Crockett, a senior running back from Minnneapolis, Minn., averaged 8.1 yards over 17 carries and finished with 138 yards and a career high-tying three touchdowns in North Dakota State's 34-14 win at Iowa State. His career-long 80-yard run came on the first play after an Iowa State touchdown to pull NDSU within 14-7 early in the second quarter.

Crockett scored from 1 and 3 yards later in the game and added one pass reception for 26 yards as the Bison scored 34 unanswered points to claim their FCS-record 25th straight win and their fifth straight over FBS opponents. He is nominated for the 
Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week.

Emanuel, a senior defensive end from Schuyler, Neb., led the Bison defense with nine total tackles including five solo stops. He had four tackles for loss totaling 12 yards including two sacks and forced one fumble. Emanuel was part of a defensive effort that held Iowa State to 102 rushing yards and just 57 total yards in the second half.

Youngstown State punter/kicker Joey Cejudo was named Special Teams Player of the Week and Missouri State defensive end Colby Isbell was named Newcomer of the Week.

North Dakota State (1-0) plays Weber State (0-1) at 6 p.m. MDT on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Utah.
