NDSU's LeMar Named Second Team All-Summit League, Newcomer of the Year

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State junior guard Brooke LeMar was selected to the All-Summit League second team, the All-Newcomer team and was tabbed the league's Newcomer of the Year for her performance throughout the 2013-14 regular season, the league announced Thursday afternoon.

LeMar, the first-ever NDSU women's basketball student-athlete to be named Newcomer of the Year, averages a team-high 15.1 points and 5.3 assists per game. She ranks second in The Summit League in assists, third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5) and fifth in the league in total scoring.

For the second consecutive season, Fort Wayne's Amanda Hyde was named The Summit League Player of the Year in a vote of the league's head coaches, sports information directors and select media members.

South Dakota State's Kerri Young was selected as the Sixth Woman of the Year while Taijhe Kelly of Omaha garnered Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

Aaron Johnston was named the league’s Coach of the Year after leading South Dakota State to its third-straight regular season league title.

NDSU opens play in The Summit League postseason basketball tournament on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. against IUPUI at Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, S.D.
