NDSU Announces Contract Extensions for Three Head Coaches

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University athletic department announced multi-year contract extensions for three head coaches Thursday, Aug. 22.

Men's basketball coach Saul Phillips accepted a five-year contract with a two-year rollover.  Wrestling coach Roger Kish and softball coach Darren Mueller each accepted three-year contracts with two-year rollovers.

Phillips has a 108-77 record entering his seventh season as head coach.  He led NDSU to a 24-10 finish last season and a second straight appearance in the College Basketball Invitational.  NDSU returned to the Summit League title game for the first time since winning the 2009 league championship.

Kish led the Bison to the Western Wrestling Conference regular season title with 5-0 conference dual meet record in 2013.  He claimed the league's Coach of the Year award after directing NDSU to a 10-8 overall record with three wins over nationally ranked teams.  Kish is entering his third season after leading NDSU to third-place and second-place finishes at the NCAA West Regional the past two years.

Mueller, a three-time Summit League Coach of the Year, guided NDSU to its second and third league championships in 2012 and 2013.  The Bison appeared in four straight NCAA tournaments from 2009 to 2012 including a Super Regional in 2009.  He enters his 13th season as NDSU's head coach with a 422-238 record.
