Lynx Forward Maya Moore Named Western Conference Player of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The WNBA today named Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore its Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, August 19 through Sunday, August 25. This is Moore’s second Player of the Week of the season and fourth of her career.

Moore started off the week with a game-high-tying 23 points on 8-for-14 shooting, including 12 in third quarter in Minnesota’s 88-75 loss to Atlanta. She also grabbed nine rebounds and hit four three-pointers, the fifth time this season she has made four or more. She helped the Lynx defeat Connecticut 91-77 on Aug. 22, scoring 17 points while dishing out five assists. She also pulled down five rebounds in Thursday's victory. Moore closed out her week with a career-high 35 points on 15-for-21 from the field, including 3-for-4 from downtown in Sunday's win over Indiana for her 12th 20+ effort of the season. Her 35 points is the top-scoring game in the league this year and the first 30+ effort by any Lynx player since Seimone Augustus tallied 36 points against Atlanta in Game 2 of the 2011 WNBA Finals. Moore also added eight rebounds, three assists and a season-high four steals and two blocks in Minnesota 84-77 victory over Indiana.

This season she ranks tied for third in the WNBA in scoring (a career-high 18.4 ppg), T-15th in rebounding (6.4 rpg), T-16th in assists (3.0 apg), 13th in FG accuracy (49.9%), fifth in three-point accuracy (46.6%), fifth in FT accuracy (89.4%), seventh in steals (1.74 spg) and T-12th in blocks (1.04 bpg).
Moore ranks among the WNBA's top 15 in all eight major statistical categories, while no other player appears on more than five of those leader boards.

Chicago’s Elena Delle Donne was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
