UMC recognizes outstanding student-athletes

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Athletic Department held its annual athletic awards program on Monday, April 25 in Kiehle Auditorium on the Minnesota, Crookston campus. The event honored the 2010-2011 senior class, recognized the Outstanding Male and Female Athlete of the Year, Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year and individual team award recipients.

The annual Student Athletic Awards Program was held Monday evening, April 25. Student-Athlete of the Year honors were presented to football player Cody Brekken (DB, 5-11, Sr, Crookston, Minn.), and soccer/softball player Katie Bowar (1B/D, 5-4, Sr, Moorhead, Minn.) men’s basketball player Eric Dearden (G, 6-2, Sr, Riverton, Utah) and women’s basketball player Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, Sr, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) were named Athletes of the Year.

Other distinguished awards presented:

Justin Knebel Memorial Award (Men’s Basketball): Almir Krdzalic (G, 5-11, So, Sioux Falls, S.D.)

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
