GRAND FORKS, N.D. – After
having played six of its first seven games away from home, the University of
North Dakota will return home this weekend ranked No. 1 in the latest national
men’s hockey polls that were released on Monday afternoon.
UND (6-0-2, 2-0-0-0 NCHC)
opened National Collegiate Hockey Conference play last weekend with a sweep at
Colorado College, winning 5-2 on Friday and 2-0 on Saturday. The sweep enabled
UND to maintain the top spot in the USCHO.com poll, while climbing from No. 2
to No. 1 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. Omaha, which
was ranked No. 8 this week, previously topped the USA Today poll.
UND will open a new month on
Friday and Saturday when it hosts former WCHA rival Wisconsin. The series is
the first of four straight home games for UND.
