CROOKSTON,
Minn.- The University of Minnesota Crookston will host the 25th annual
UMC Teambackers Golf Classic Sat., July 18 at Minakwa Golf Club in
Crookston, Minn. The event will commence with registration at 9 a.m.
Tournament rules and guidelines will be discussed at 9:45 a.m. with a
shotgun start at 10 a.m. The tournament will be a Texas Scramble format
with teams of five. If you do not have a team of five, you will be
placed on a team that is in need of more members.
In celebration
of the 25th anniversary of the Teambacker Golf Classic, all proceeds
from the tournament will go toward the Marv and Diane Bachmeier Athletic
Scholarship. It was Bachmeier, who helped to spearhead the UMC
Teambackers Golf Classic in 1991. It was been Bachmeier’s hard work and
dedication that has helped to make the tournament a success since its
inception. Bachmeier, the school’s Director of Athletics from 1976-99,
has been a
guiding force toward improving athletic scholarships at
UMC over his nearly 50 years on involvement with the campus. Bachmeier
was previously the men’s basketball coach from 1968-76. He continues to
be an instrumental part of the Crookston community, including continuing
to help out with the UMC Athletic Department and the campus, as a
whole.
UMC Teambackers will also be raffling off 250 tickets for
$25 with a chance to win a 2015 Yamaha Fleet Gas Golf Cart decked out
with maroon paint and gold and white seats and the University of
Minnesota Crookston logo. The golf cart was sponsored by Golf Cars Plus
in Fosston, Minn., Leisureland RV in East Grand Forks, Minn., Altru
Health System and Dick Hebert. The proceeds from the raffle will be
split among the Marv Bachmeier Scholarship and the Mark Olsonawski
Scholarship.
Registration for the tournament is $95 per person.
This amount includes the registration fee of $85 which includes green
fees, an entry gift, prizes, coffee, dinner and a contribution to
support athletic scholarships. The deadline for registration is July 10
and will be limited to the first 90 guests. To register contact Garrett
