KANSAS
CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced
the NABC Division I All-District teams for the 2014-15 season on Friday,
recognizing the nation’s best men’s collegiate basketball
student-athletes. North Dakota State senior guard Lawrence Alexander
was named to the District 12 first team.
Alexander
joins Taylor Braun (2014) and Ben Woodside (2009) as the only Bison to
earn NABC All-District first-team selections in NDSU’s Division I era.
Marshall Bjorklund (2014) and Brett Winkelman (2009) were second-team
All-District picks.
Alexander
was named The Summit League’s Player of the Year and Tournament MVP
this season. He averaged 18.9 points and 4.5 rebounds in 38.5 minutes
per game for the year, leading the league in scoring and minutes.
Alexander set a new NDSU single-season record with 104 three-pointers
made this season, and his three-point percentage of 44.1 percent ranks
eighth-best in the nation.
The
Peoria, Ill., native set new NDSU career records for minutes played
(4,631), games started (131) and wins (90). His 624 points this season
were the third-most ever by a Bison.
The All-District teams are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
The
Bison finished 23-10 this season, winning their second consecutive
Summit League Tournament title after sharing the league’s regular season
crown. NDSU is one of only nine mid-major programs in the country to
post at least 23 victories in each of the last three seasons.
