ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State’s Lawrence Alexander was
named The Summit League’s Player of the Week following his performance in two
Bison victories on Feb. 5 and Feb. 7.
Alexander, a senior guard from Peoria, Ill., earns his
second Player of the Week honor this season and third of his career after
setting a new North Dakota State single-game record with eight three-pointers
in the 71-47 victory over South Dakota on Feb. 7. He totaled 31 points,
including the first 15 points of the game for the Bison, and grabbed five
rebounds with a pair of assists against the Coyotes.
In Thursday’s win over Omaha, Alexander scored 18 points
with three steals and two assists. He averaged 24.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0
assists and 1.5 steals per game for the week, shooting 62 percent (16-of-26)
from the field and 58 percent from three-point range (11-of-19).
With the two victories, Alexander also set a new Bison
career wins record with 84 in his career. He climbed from 11th to eighth on the
NDSU all-time scoring list with 1,577 points.
On the season, Alexander has made 76 three-pointers – the
same amount he made in the last two years combined. Only seven players in the
country have made more treys this season.
