Gothberg
recorded his second career shutout and posted a series save percentage
of .952 in UND’s conference split with Western Michigan last weekend in
Grand Forks. The sophomore from Thief River Falls, Minn., stopped all
18 shots he faced in Fridays’ 2-0 for his second career shutout, both of
which have come in the last three weeks. The following night, Gothberg
stopped 20 of 22 shots in UND’s 2-1 loss.
Gothberg’s
performance also enabled him to win the NCHC’s goaltending crown with a
league-leading 2.26 goals against average in 17 NCHC games. He also
upped his career save percentage to .922, the best mark in school
history.
In
25 overall games (23 starts) this season, Gothberg is 15-7-3 with a
league-best 2.02 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
