UND's Gothberg Earns 3rd NCHC Award

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – For the third time this season and the second time in two weeks, North Dakota’s Zane Gothberg has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Goaltender of the Week.

Gothberg recorded his second career shutout and posted a series save percentage of .952 in UND’s conference split with Western Michigan last weekend in Grand Forks. The sophomore from Thief River Falls, Minn., stopped all 18 shots he faced in Fridays’ 2-0 for his second career shutout, both of which have come in the last three weeks. The following night, Gothberg stopped 20 of 22 shots in UND’s 2-1 loss.

Gothberg’s performance also enabled him to win the NCHC’s goaltending crown with a league-leading 2.26 goals against average in 17 NCHC games. He also upped his career save percentage to .922, the best mark in school history.

In 25 overall games (23 starts) this season, Gothberg is 15-7-3 with a league-best 2.02 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

Miami junior forward Blake Coleman was the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week, Nebraska Omaha freshman Ian Brady was the Defenseman of the Week and Minnesota Duluth forward Kyle Osterberg was the Rookie of the Week.
