ELMHURST, Ill. –
North Dakota State multi-event All-American Andy Lillejord was named The Summit
League’s 2013 Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, the league office announced
Friday.
The junior from
Jamestown, N.D., recorded a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon at the NCAA
Championships with 5,793 points on March 8-9. He was named a USTFCCCA first-team
All-American for his performance, which broke his own school record by 132
points that stood for a mere 12 days.
Lillejord’s
finish marked the highest in league history in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor
Championships. He was also named the 2013 Summit League Field Championship MVP
after defending his heptathlon title with a league and DakotaDome record of
5,661 points. Lillejord posted second-place finishes at the Summit League Indoor
Championships in the pole vault (16-09.25) and long jump
(23-08.75).
Lillejord
finished the season ranked second in the league in the long jump (24-03.75),
third in the pole vault (16-09.25), sixth in the 60m dash (6.96), and seventh in
the 60m hurdles (8.36).
