CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University
of Minnesota , Crookston had four student-athletes named to the Northern
Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Winter All-Academic team as announced
Thursday afternoon by the conference office. The UMC
women’s basketball team had two student-athletes honored as Kenzie Church (So., F, Fairmount , N.D. ) and Ashley Martell (So., G, Somerset , Wis. ) received the honor. Men’s basketball seniors Broderick
Schmidt (F, Marion , S.D. ) and Almir Krdzalic (G, Sioux Falls , S.D. ) also received the distinguished award.
To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must be
a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point
average of 3.20 or higher. Furthermore, the athlete must have reached sophomore
athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt
freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have
completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
