(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Softball team announced today that following this weekend’s NSIC softball games, Sam Berglin (OF, So, Alexandria, Minn.) has emerged as the new single season homerun record holder for the Golden Eagles. The old record was four held by several players with Berglin earning six just 21 games into the season.
Berglin put the Golden Eagles on top of #5 Winona State in the fourth inning with a solo homerun on Saturday. She followed that up with a two-run home run against Upper Iowa that helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-2 victory on Sunday. Her other homeruns were in games against MSU Moorhead, Carlow University, and Fisher College (2). On the season, she leads the team with 17 runs scored, 16 RBI and a .585 slugging percentage.
Berglin is majoring in criminal justice at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Char and Ron Berglin.
