NDSU’s Grimsley MVFC Defensive POTW

ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State strong safety Robbie Grimsley was named Missouri Valley Football Conference co-Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Sunday, Sept. 10.

Grimsley, a junior from Hutchinson, Minn., made his eighth and ninth career interceptions along with two other pass breakups and four tackles in North Dakota State's 40-13 win at Eastern Washington.

It is the first conference player of the week award for Grimsley, who was part of a Bison defense that slowed the Eagles to 54 plays and allowed just 73 yards in the final three quarters.

He shared the award with Northern Iowa linebacker Jared Farley, who made 11 tackles and had a 48-yard fumble return for a touchdown in UNI's 45-38 overtime win over Cal Poly.

No. 2-ranked North Dakota State (2-0) is off this week before closing out non-conference play against Robert Morris (Pa.) on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
